The Local Government Association’s new report A child-centred recovery outlines local government’s ambitions for a child-centred recovery, drawing together every aspect of policy and service.
As we keep saying, children and young people have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. Education and youth services been disrupted or transformed and children and young people have also experienced a range of hidden harms, poverty and mental health issues.
The report is part of the LGA’s campaign ahead of the Comprehensive Spending Review and calls on the Government to:
- restore the £1.7 billion early intervention funding ahead of surge in children’s services demand
- adopt a cross-Whitehall strategy that puts children and young people at the heart of recovery, and ensure
- take action to prevent the attainment gap from widening, including immediate work to stabilise the early years sector and support children and young people to attend school or to continue learning from home where required.
